Educação: Possui graduação em Zoology pelo Drew University, Nova Jersey, EUA, mestrado em Manejo de Animais Sivestres pela Univ. de West Virginia, EUA, e doutorado em Ecologia, Evolução, e Biologia da Conservação (EECB) pela Universidade de Nevada, Reno, EUA.
Fez parte do grupo Dinâmicas Biológicas de Fragmentos Florestais (WWF e hoje da Smithsonian), estudando primatas na Amazonia. A tese de mestrado foi com o Mico Leão Preto com apoio do Instituto Florestal de São Paulo e o International Committee for the Preservation and Management of Black Lion Tamarin, enquanto a tese de Ph.D foi com Ungulados e Frugivoria no planalto da Mata Atlantica.
Experiência profissional: Foi diretora do Centro de Pesquisa, (Earthwatch Institute e Conservation International) no Pantanal por cinco anos - desenvolveu uma equipe de pesquisa para iniciar um banco de dados da biodiversidade existente na região do médio Rio Negro, Nhecolandia, Pantanal. A missão do Centro de Pesquisa foi de contribuir na conservação da região através da combinação de pesquisa básica e aplicada, colaboração científica, parcerias, e programas de capacitação e educação envolvendo comunidades locais e internacionais. Bolsas de pesquisa e titulos honorificos e premios academicas inclui Forestry Honorary Society, Earthwatch Institute, PEO (organização de mulheres para o avanço acadêmico), Lincoln Park Zoological Society, Royal Geographical Society de Londres.
Trabalhou como pesquisadora na Universidade para o Desenvolvimento do Estado e da Região do Pantanal (UNIDERP) e Fundação Manoel Barros (FMB) com o projeto Funções Ecologicos e a Conservação dos Catetos e queixadas, e porco Monteiros no Pantanal da regiao Nehecolandia, MS. Devido aos publicacoes e resultados gerado da pesquisa, foi nomeada membro representante do Brasil pelo IUCN/SSC Pigs, Peccaries and Hippo Specialist group (UICN – Uniao Mundial para Conservação da Natureza).
Desde 2005, coordena o projeto Wildlife Conservation Society – Brazil/Pantanal coordenando o projeto "Protegendo a biodiversidade em Parceria com a comunidade rural do Mato Grosso do Sul". Em parceria com fazendeiros tradicionais, a WCS-Brasil, está trabalhando para proteger a biodiversidade do Pantanal (planice e planalto) Brasileiro através da promoção de práticas de manejo de gado capaz de diminuir as pressões sobre os recursos naturais e ao mesmo tempo melhorar a producao do pecuarista.
